Father and son

My rendition is a flawed version of a great song. I always enjoyed this song for several reasons: the melody, the counter-song, and the message. The father tells his son to settle down and learn to be happy, the kid tells his side of the story (but not directly to the father: 'when I do, he turns away again...'). The voices change with the character - the deep father's voice, the higher-pitched son's voice.

I worked on this song until the early morning hours, and although there are many things I should fix, I'm done. There are a few obvious voice cracks, and I'd do the intro differently next time. There's an interesting little boom right after the son sings "I was ordered to listen now" that I didn't notice until I had already mixed the voices down, so there it is. I think it might be my daughter closing the clothes dryer door in the next room (I'm pretty sure she was doing her laundry right around then); absolute proof, as if anyone needed any, that this is a true 'basement tape' collection.

Voices: Piano, Guitar, Picked Bass.
